Bowiea Gariepensis | Climbing Onion (super rare)

Bowiea gariepensis is the small relative of Bowiea volubilis. This plant stores its energy in the bulb, from which it grows fast growing vines at intervals, up to 2.5 m long.  It was only discovered in 1983 and due to its rarity is practically unavailable for purchase. It bears great small white flowers and the tendrils have a light green-silvery-bluish color.

Bowiea gariepensis goes into dormancy about once a year, where only the bulb remains. After some time, the next shoots appear and growth begins again.
